2 teeth to commemorate Sofea's 8 months existence on earth!
Yesterday (7th june'11), i ran my finger ard sofeas gums n felt something sharp protuding on her bottom gums. Checked, and altho' not very visible, it's confirmed 2 teeth abt to make its apperance! No wonder,she was extra cranky last week and woke up every 2-3 hrs at nite. My gawd, I was exhausted! And i realised teething might just change her sleeping pattern. She used to have 2 naps during the day and then went to bed from 7pm - 5.30am. These few days it's so difficult to make her sleep. Instead her 7pm bedtime became a nap. And she's wide awake till 10.15pm! I can't do any anything! It's obvious that she's tired as seen with the constant yawning and rubbing if her eyes. She'll cry to b nursed, i picked her up, bf n barely 1 min she's up cawling all over e place again, pulling herself up to stand or trying to lick the wall. No amount of scolding works coz she did it 5-6x repeatedly over the next 1 hr. Aaarrgghh!
So out of desperation, i did what i vowed not to do.. I implemented the cry-it-out method. Not fully tho' coz there is no way im going to let e gal cry herself to sleep. Its just too cruel. The 1st night i left her in her playpen, the only safe place where she couldnt fall out or hurt herself, crying for 10mins. Gosh it breaks my heart! I kept myself busy in e kitchen and rescued her when i couldnt take it anymore. The tears, the trembling.. This girl likes to cry or whine for attention but ive never seen her cry like this before. It's like she's in fear and thought i had abondoned her. I felt horrible. Quickly picked her up and gave her a good hug. I really wanted to cry. But guess wat.. It works. I bf her and less than 5 mins she fell asleep.
The next day same thing happened i put her in 'naughty corner' for 5 mins this time. Bf and she immediately went to la-la land. And again just now, 3rd day in a row. she cried for barely 2 mins before i picked her up and nursed her to sleep. And this time she went to bed at 8.30pm!
Here's the thing. She knew shes tired and sleepy and she knew im angry at her for still playing at bedtime but she din know how serious i was until i placed her in e 'naughty corner'. Ya Allah i hope she'll fall back into a sleep routine soon coz it really breaks my heart to see her cry.
