Its been a month that sofea's on solids and i must say, im beginning to enjoy preparing these baby food. The excitement comes when i conjured all these interesting food combinations and watch for that priceless expressions once the 1st spoonful goes into her mouth.
What i can conclude is that this gerl definately hates bland food. Who doesn't? But thing is, babies shouldnt know unless u introduce the different taste to them. But i guess with breastfed babies, they acquired the flavour through the breastmilk. What mom eats, i eat.
At this point, salt n sugar are no nos. Sugar, it goes straight to the blood stream and unless i want a more hyperactive baby than i already can handle, no to sugar! Salt, well the baby's kidneys can't fully flush out salt frm e body and the max they can consume is 1g a day. And wif all that ive eaten, 1g is easily gotten frm breastmilk. So no, i do not want to harm my child
But what they can have, are spices. So i got a little creative when i made her 2nd batch of chicken broth. I added a bit of ginger, cinnamon, cardamon and star anise. She loveeees her porridge! Then the next day i prepared potatoes and carrots puree and added a lil bit of black pepper. And wow she loves this puree even more than the porridge. She opened her mouth wide and lunged at the spoon! Not even a dribble comes out of her mouth. Every spoonful is gone. Thats my gerl!
Im thinking if she can stomach black pepper, maybe we can introduce chilli or curry powder by 8 mths!
